As robotic systems become more popular in household environments, the
complexity of required tasks also increases. In this work we focus on a
domestic chore deemed dull by a majority of the population, the task of
ironing. The presented algorithm improves on the limited number of previous
works by joining 3D perception with force/torque sensing, with emphasis on
finding a practical solution with a feasible implementation in a domestic
setting. Our algorithm obtains a point cloud representation of the working
environment. From this point cloud, the garment is segmented and a custom
Wrinkleness Local Descriptor (WiLD) is computed to determine the location of
the present wrinkles. Using this descriptor, the most suitable ironing path is
computed and, based on it, the manipulation algorithm performs the
force-controlled ironing operation. Experiments have been performed with a
humanoid robot platform, proving that our algorithm is able to detect
successfully wrinkles present in garments and iteratively reduce the
wrinkleness using an unmodified iron.Comment: Accepted and to be published on the 2017 IEEE/RSJ International

Optimal Sampling Pattern for the Free Final Time Linear Quadratic Regulator
The optimal sampling problem is the selection of the optimal sampling instants together with the optimal control actions such that a given cost function is minimized. In this article, we solve the optimal sampling problem for the free final time linear quadratic regulator. Each optimal sampling instant is computed as the minimization of a maximum eigenvalue problem that is formulated at each stage by previously applying dynamic programming. The solution provides the optimal sampling instants, control actions, and the optimal final time in a recursive and constructive way. Furthermore, the solution is optimal for any arbitrary number of control moves N≥1 , as it is not based on asymptotic arguments. Two application examples show the feasibility of the approach
Optimal sampling pattern for free final time linear quadratic regulator: the scalar case
The optimal sampling problem is the selection of the optimal sampling instants

In this article we solve the optimal sampling problem for free final time
linear quadratic regulator with scalar dynamical system. The solution provides the
optimal sampling instants, control actions, and the optimal final time in a recursive
and constructive way for any arbitrary number of samples N ≥ 1, as it is not

It has simulated the onedimensional radiactive substances transport process runing in the geosphere by a numerical scheme that is based on the finite volume method and the Crank- Nicolson scheme. A study of the scheme behaviour has been carry out for advection dominate cases, comparing with the solutions obtained by a numerical code based on a combination of characteristics and finite diference methods.Peer Reviewe
Immediate bleeding complications in dental implants: a systematic review
Objective: A review is made of the immediate or immediate postoperative bleeding complications in dental implants, with a view to identifying the areas of greatest bleeding risk, the causes of bleeding, the length of the implants associated with bleeding, the most frequently implicated blood vessels, and the treatments used to resolve
these complications.
Material and Methods: A Medline (PubMed) and Embase search was made of articles on immediate bleeding
complications in dental implants published in English up until May 2014. Inclusion criteria: studies in humans
subjects with severe bleeding immediately secondary to implant placement, which reported the time until the
hemorrhage, the implant lenght, the possible cause of bleeding and the treatment. Exclusion criteria: patients
receiving anticoagulation treatment.
Results: Fifteen articles met the inclusion criteria. The area with the largest number of bleeding complications corresponded to the mandibular canine. The cause of bleeding was lingual cortical bone perforation during implant
placement, with damage to the sublingual artery. The implants associated with bleeding were those measuring 15
mm in length or more. Management focused on securing the airway (with intubation or tracheostomy if necessary), with bleeding control.
Conclusions: It’s important to pay special attention when the implants are placed in the mandibular anterior zone,
especially if long implants are used. The most frequently cause of bleeding was the perforation of the lingual plate.
Treatment involves securing the airway, with bleeding contro
Effect of equine chorionic gonadotropin on pregnancy rate in Brown Swiss cows under high altitude conditions
The objective of the present study was to evaluate the administration of Equine Chorionic Gonadotropin
(eCG) in a protocol of fixed-time artificial insemination (FTAI) to increase the pregnancy rate in cows
subjected to high altitude conditions. These conditions could generate a syndrome of right-sided heart
failure and, as consequence, animals trend to have a low body score condition with a decrease in
fertility. The research was conducted with 84 lactating cows (Brown Swiss) randomly into two groups
with a body condition score between 2.5 and 3.5, allocated at 3100 m above sea level. In the FTAI
protocol, 400 IU of eCG was administered (n = 42) or not (n = 42) at progesterone intravaginal device
removal. A significant improvement in pregnancy rate was found with eCG treatment in those cows
with low body condition score (BCS of 2.5, scale 1–5), while no effect was found in those cows with
higher BCS (i.e. 3.0 and 3.5). In conclusion, the addition of 400 IU of eCG in an FTAI in cows under high
altitude conditions and low body conditions can improve the fertility.Veterinari
